Incredible Birds
The Cockatoo Encounter celebrates the beauty and intelligence of cockatoos. The program features rescue birds that perform tricks and natural behavior such as flying, raising a pirate flag, jumping, solving puzzles, and more.
All the birds have a choice in what activities they participate in which guarantee no two shows will ever be the same. The show teaches the audience about the increidble intelligence of birds, why cockatoos do not make good pets, and how to help their wild cousins.

Making a Difference
Did you know that cockatoos are the most abandoned pet birds in America? Or that they talk to their eggs and name their babies? Or that they can scream within 5 decibels of a jet engine? No? Most people don't know very much about cockatoos. Our goal is to educate people on how complex these animals are so that they don't make an impulse purchase and bring a baby cockatoo home. We also work with folks who currently have cockatoos to help improve their bird's lives and help end the cycle of abandonment. The average cockatoo is surrendered every two years of their life, they can live to be 70.
Not only do we work to educate the masses about cockatoos, we work to help rescue captive cockatoos and their wild cousins. Since 2017 we have helped rescue over 20 birds! In addition to rescue we work to help restore their habitat in the wild. In 2023 alone we were able to help plant over 2,000 trees!
